If your LinkedIn connection isn't working, this guide covers the most common errors and how to fix each one. Before you start, make sure the Recruiterflow Chrome Extension is installed and you're logged into LinkedIn in the same Chrome browser.
Not set up yet? Start with Connecting Your LinkedIn Account to Recruiterflow.
🔴"Login required" error
Cause: The extension can't detect an active LinkedIn session.
Fix: Open a new tab, go to linkedin.com, and log in. Keep that tab open, then open the extension and click Connect LinkedIn again.
🔴"Couldn't connect. Try again" error
Cause: A temporary glitch during the connection process.
Fix: Click Retry in the extension. If that doesn't work, refresh your LinkedIn tab, then reopen the extension and try again. If it's still failing, clear your browser cookies for the last 24 hours (Chrome Settings → Privacy and Security → Clear Browsing Data), log back into LinkedIn, and reconnect.
🔴"LinkedIn session expired. Reconnect" warning
Cause: Your LinkedIn session has expired — this happens after inactivity or when browser data is cleared.
Fix: Open linkedin.com and log back in. Then click the extension icon, click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner, and select Reconnect LinkedIn.
🔴"Taking longer than usual" message
Cause: The connection is still processing.
Fix: Wait 2–3 minutes. Recruiterflow will send you an email once the connection completes. If you get a failure email, follow the instructions in it to retry.
Extension icon not showing in Chrome toolbar
Fix: Go to chrome://extensions/, find Recruiterflow, and make sure the toggle is enabled. Then click the puzzle piece icon (🧩) in your toolbar, find Recruiterflow, and click the pin icon. If the extension isn't listed at all, reinstall it from the Chrome Web Store via Settings → Integrations → Get the Recruiterflow Extension in Recruiterflow.
Connection keeps disconnecting
Common causes: logging out of LinkedIn frequently, clearing browser cookies, or using LinkedIn in Incognito mode.
Fix: Stay logged into LinkedIn in a regular (non-Incognito) Chrome window. Avoid clearing cookies for linkedin.com. If you use multiple LinkedIn-related extensions, try disabling them one at a time to see if one is interfering.
Note: Recruiterflow supports one LinkedIn account per user. If you're logged into multiple LinkedIn accounts in Chrome, log out of all of them, log back into the one you want to connect, then reconnect through the extension.
Connected in the extension but not showing in Recruiterflow
Fix: Go to Settings → Integrations and refresh the page. Your LinkedIn profile name should appear under the LinkedIn section. If it still doesn't show, log out of Recruiterflow and back in, then try disconnecting and reconnecting LinkedIn through the extension.
