Editing and refining your search after results load

How to edit filter chips, use the AIRA chat side sheet to refine conversationally, and remove or update ranking signals after results load.

Written by Amogh Balikai

Your search doesn't end when results load

After AIRA returns results, you can refine, adjust, or completely change your search without starting from scratch. There are two ways to do this: editing filter chips directly, or typing a follow-up in the AIRA chat side sheet.

Editing a filter chip

  1. Find the filter chip you want to change in the snack bar at the top of the results table

  2. Click Edit on the chip

  3. The AIRA chat side sheet opens with that filter in edit mode

  4. Make your changes (dropdown selection, date picker, free text, depending on the filter type)

  5. Click Save & Rerun ↗ to apply the change and regenerate results

What "Save & Rerun" does

Every edit creates a new search object. Your original query is preserved for reference. The pipeline re-runs with the updated filters. If you edited a qualitative ranking chip (🧠), results will be fully re-ranked, not just re-filtered.

Refining via the AIRA chat side sheet

You can also type follow-up messages directly in the side sheet to modify your search conversationally. AIRA understands natural language edits, you don't need to know which filter to change.

Examples:

  • "Also include remote candidates" → AIRA adds Remote to the location filter and asks to confirm before rerunning

  • "Bump experience to 10+ years" → AIRA updates the Years of Experience chip and reruns

  • "Remove the FAANG filter" → AIRA removes the company chip and confirms removal

After each conversational edit, AIRA confirms the change in the side sheet before rerunning:

  • "[Filter] updated to [value]. Re-discovering candidates based on AIRA Talent Graph."

  • "[Filter] removed."

  • "Signal changed to [phrase]." (for qualitative ranking edits)

Dismissing an AIRA Intelligence filter

AIRA Intelligence filters (✨) can be dismissed if you don't want them influencing results. Click Edit on the chip and delete the filter from the side bar as seen in the image. The chip is removed and the side sheet confirms the removal. Results update accordingly.

Removing a qualitative ranking signal

Click Edit on a 🧠 qualitative chip. Clear the text field and click Save & Rerun. AIRA will prompt: "Remove this ranking signal?", confirm to remove it. Removing all qualitative chips means results return in quantitative filter order only, with no AIRA ranking applied.

Starting a new search

To run a completely different query, click on the +New button found on top of the
type it in the search bar or in the chat side sheet. Starting a new query clears the current conversation history in the side sheet and begins a fresh session.

Things to know

  • The full conversation history with reasoning, clarifications, edits is visible in the side sheet for the duration of the current session

  • Chat history does not persist after you navigate away from the Candidates page

  • You cannot add new qualitative ranking criteria in edit mode. Only edit existing ones extracted from your original query
