Understanding "Override personal views"

What the override checkbox does when publishing a Team or Specific-user view.

Written by Amogh Balikai

When publishing a Team or Specific-user view, you're asked whether to check "Override personal views." This decides what happens to any team member who already built their own Personal view.

If checked: every assigned user is moved onto the new view, even if they had an active personal view they were actively using.

If unchecked (the default): the view will be shared with those users in their view management table but they will see the older view that either was applied to them or that they chose themselves by creating a personal view.

Things to know:

  • This decision is made at publish time and applies to that publish only — publishing again later lets you choose again.

  • There's no way to selectively override only some users' Personal views in a single publish.
