How to Add a Second Company and Set a Primary on a Contact

Step-by-step: linking a second company (with job title) to a Contact and choosing which one is Primary.

Written by Amogh Balikai

Use this when a Contact is tied to more than one company, for example a board member who also runs their own search firm, and you want Recruiterflow to reflect both relationships.

Add a second company

  1. Open the Contact's profile.

  2. On the top-left card, click the company field's edit icon.

  3. Click Add company.

  4. Select the company, then enter the Contact's Job Title at that company. Job Title is required for every company you add.

  5. Click Save.

Set the Primary company

  1. On the same edit view, each linked company has a Primary selector.

  2. Select the company you want as Primary. The rest are automatically set to Secondary.

  3. Click Save.

The Primary company's name, Job Title, and location show on the Contact's top-left card and Details Card. Secondary companies stay visible on the edit view but don't appear on the card.

Example

Maria is a hiring manager at Halden Group and also sits on the board at Ferro Partners. Add both companies to her Contact profile, with a Job Title for each ("VP Talent" at Halden, "Board Member" at Ferro). Mark Halden Group as Primary since that's her day-to-day role, so it's what your team sees first when they open her profile.

Things to know

  • You can change which company is Primary at any time. This doesn't remove the other companies from the Contact.

  • Removing a company from a Contact also removes it from any filters or lists that were scoped to that company through this Contact.
