When a candidate placed on a contract role continues working beyond their original end date, you’ll need to update the placement to reflect the new timeline.

Recruiterflow makes it easy to extend a contract placement while keeping billing and reporting accurate.

This guide walks you through the steps to extend a contract placement.

When to Extend a Contract?

You probably might want to extend a contract when:

  • A contractor's end date has been extended by the client

  • You need to update revenue tracking to reflect additional work duration

How to Extend a Contract Placement

  1. Go to the Placements Tab
From the top navigation bar, click on Placements and click on the placement that needs to be extended.

  2. Click “Edit” on the Placement Details
In the placement view, click the Edit button as seen in the image below, and choose the Extend option.

  3. Update the Details
In the next window, add all the necessary details like the new start date, new bill rate, new pay rate, etc.

  4. Save Your Changes
Click Extend Contract to apply the updated placement details.

Optional: Notify Your Team or Client

After saving:

  • You can email the client or candidate directly from the placement view.

  • Use activity notes to log internal updates for visibility across your team.

Tips for Managing Contract Extensions

  • Use Segments: Create a segment for all active contract placements nearing their end date to stay on top of potential extensions.

  • Track Extension History: Use custom fields or notes to log previous extensions for long-term tracking.

  • Revenue Attribution: Make sure team revenue shares are updated if extension terms affect commission.
