Sometimes, a placement may need to be canceled due to a client backing out, a candidate declining an offer, or other unexpected changes. In Recruiterflow, canceling a placement ensures your reports and pipeline data stay clean and accurate.

This guide walks you through the process of canceling a placement and outlines what happens to associated data.

When to Cancel a Placement

Cancel a placement if:

  • The offer was accepted, but the candidate didn’t start

  • The client rescinded the job offer after placement

  • The candidate dropped out before onboarding

How to Cancel a Placement?

1. Go to the Placements Tab

Click on Recruiting> Placements from the side navigation bar.

2. Open the Placement Record and Click on “Cancel Placement”

Locate the placement you want to cancel and click on it to view its details. You will find the options icon - click on it and select 'Cancel Placement' from the dropdown.

3. Add Details in the Confirmation Window

In the confirmation dialog, select a reason for cancellation from the dropdown. This helps your team track why placements are canceled and improve future outcomes.

Finally, click Cancel Contract to finalize.

What Happens After Cancellation?

  • The placement is removed from your active placement list.

  • The associated revenue is no longer counted in reports.

  • All activity logs remain for historical context.

Tips for Managing Canceled Placements

  • Use notes or custom fields to track why a placement was canceled.

  • Create a segment of canceled placements to identify trends or recurring issues.

  • Notify your team using @mentions in notes if others need to take follow-up actions.
