Board membership is tracked as its own block on the Org Chart, parallel to the reporting hierarchy, not inside it. This matters because a board member often does not report to anyone at the company in an operational sense, but still has real influence over hiring, budget, and decision-making.
Adding a board member
Go to the Company profile and open the Org Chart tab.
Find the Board block. It sits to the side of the main reporting chart.
Click the Board block to open a contact search dropdown.
Search for and select the contact you want to add as a board member.
Save. The contact's card appears in the Board block immediately.
Adding more board members
Once you add one board member, a second empty Board block appears next to it. Use it to add another member the same way. A new block appears each time you fill the previous one, so you can add as many board members as the company actually has.
Board blocks run in a row, parallel to the reporting chart. They are not connected to any contact in the reporting hierarchy by a line.
Removing a board member
Click on the 'X' on the board member's card in the Board block and remove them from there. This does two things immediately:
Their card disappears from the Board block.
The company is removed from their Contact profile as a Board Member association. See Understanding Board Member Sync with Contact Profiles for what this affects on the contact's side.
Who can do this
Anyone with edit access to the Company profile can add or remove board members. There is no separate admin-only restriction on this action.
