Filtering Contacts and Companies by Primary or All Companies

How the Primary / All dropdown works across Contact filters, and Company page filters.

Written by Amogh Balikai

Use this when you want to search or filter Contacts based on a specific company relationship, whether that's a Contact's main role or any company they're linked to.

Where the Primary / All filter shows up

  • Contact company filters: Any filter based on a Contact's company (Advanced Search, Contact table columns) includes a Primary (default) / All dropdown.

  • Company page filters: The Contact and Contact Radius Search filters on a Company profile accept Primary or All as an input.

What Primary and All mean

  • Primary (default): Only matches Contacts whose Primary company meets the filter condition.

  • All: Matches Contacts if any linked company, Primary or Secondary, meets the filter condition.

How to use it

  1. Open Advanced Search (or the relevant filter panel) and add a company-based filter.

  2. Set the company condition (for example, contact name, company radius)

  3. Use the Primary / All dropdown next to the filter to choose scope.

  4. Run the search. Results update based on your selection.

Things to know

  • Primary is the default on every filter that supports this dropdown, so existing saved searches keep behaving the way they did before this update.

  • The Contact Radius Search and Contact filter on Company profiles behave the same way: Primary checks only the Contact's main company, All checks every company linked to that Contact.
