Troubleshooting Candidate-Contact Field Sync

Fix the five most likely Field Sync issues — missing settings, fields not updating, unexpected overwrites, and permission mismatches.

I don't see Field Sync in CRM Settings

Cause: Your plan doesn't include this feature, or you're not an Admin.

Fix: Confirm you're on an Platform or AIRA plan and logged in as an Admin. If both check out and it's still missing, contact support.

I changed a candidate field but the contact field didn't update

Cause: That specific field pairing isn't toggled on in Field Sync, or, for custom fields, the field types don't match.

Fix: Check CRM Settings → Sync Profiles to confirm the field is enabled. For custom fields, confirm both fields are exactly the same type.

A teammate's edit changed a field I didn't expect to be linked

Cause: The field is mapped and syncs as Replace, so an edit on the matched profile overwrote it.

Fix: This is expected behavior for mapped fields, not a bug. If you don't want a field's value to ever be overwritten by edits elsewhere, unmap it in CRM Settings.

I can't find the custom field option I just typed, on the matched profile

Cause: New option values should add automatically to the matched field's list. If it's missing, the sync may not have completed, or the field types don't actually match.

Fix: Refresh the matched profile, confirm the mapping under Custom Fields settings, and verify both fields are the same type.

I can edit a field on one entity but can't find or edit the matched field on the other

Cause: This is permission-based, not a sync bug. You may have edit access to one side of a mapping but not the other.

Fix: No action needed if the value updated correctly elsewhere. If you need edit access to the matched field, ask your Admin.
