Troubleshooting: Custom Activity Not Attached or Not Showing on a Calendar Event

Common reasons a custom activity didn't get logged, linked, or displayed when scheduling an event, and how to fix each one.

Written by Amogh Balikai

If a custom activity didn't log, or the link between it and its event isn't showing up, here are the most common reasons and how to fix each one.

"I don't see a Custom Activity option when scheduling at all"

Cause: Calendar Activity Mapping is only available on the new candidate profile. If your account is still on the old profile layout, this option doesn't exist there yet.

Fix: Switch to the new candidate profile to use this feature. See What's Changing: The New Candidate Profile for how to switch over.

"I'm on the new profile but can't find the option to attach a custom activity"

Cause: Attaching a custom activity is currently only available when you schedule a new event from a candidate profile's Schedule quick action. If you're editing an existing event from the Calendar Widget on your dashboard, the option to attach a custom activity, attach a file, or change the video conferencing platform isn't available there.

Fix: Attach the custom activity when you first create the event from the candidate profile. If the event already exists without one, you'll need to log the activity separately for now.

"I don't see this option when scheduling with a contact or client"

Cause: Calendar Activity Mapping currently only supports custom activities set up for candidates. It isn't available when scheduling an event from a contact or company profile.

Fix: There isn't one yet, this is expected behavior, not a bug.

"The activity type I want isn't in the dropdown"

Cause: The activity type may not be set up for candidates, or it hasn't been created yet.

Fix: Check How to Create Custom Activities and confirm the type exists for the Candidate entity.

Still stuck?

Reach out to support with the candidate profile and the event you scheduled, so it can be investigated.
