Troubleshoot the contact profile

Fix some most likely contact profile issues, from a layout that will not publish to a missing job.

Written by Amogh Balikai

When a card is missing, a button is greyed out, or a layout will not publish, the cause is usually one of the eleven below, and each has a fix.

A layout will not publish

Cause: One or more required cards are not in any column. Contact Info, Jobs, Deals, and Company details must each sit in at least one column.

Fix: Read the pop-up. It lists every missing card. Add each one to a column, then publish again.

A card will not go into a column

Cause: Each card has its own eligible columns. Notes, Conversations, and Recent Activities sit in the middle only. Company details sits in the left or right only.

Fix: Check Contact profile card reference for the columns each card allows.

The Deals card says "No deals yet"

Cause: No deal is linked to this contact.

Fix: Click + Add to link or create a deal. Users with view scope see the message without the button.

The Add list does not show a deal I expect

Cause: The list shows deals that belong to the contact's primary company.

Fix: Mark the right company as primary, or create the deal from the card.

A job is missing from the Jobs card

Cause: All jobs does not list drafts, or the contact is no longer tagged on the job.

Fix: Choose Draft jobs in the dropdown. Check the job's contact tag.

A company cannot be removed

Cause: The company is primary, or it is the contact's only company.

Fix: Mark another company as primary, then remove the first.

A manager is missing from the Reports to list

Cause: The list shows contacts linked to that company only.

Fix: Add the manager to the company first, or choose Create new contact in the dropdown.

Add, edit, or remove buttons are missing

Cause: Your role has view scope.

Fix: Ask an admin for contact edit scope. See Who can see and edit what on the contact profile.

A card shows a retry message

Cause: That card's data did not load.

Fix: Click retry in the card. The rest of the profile stays usable. If the message returns, contact support.
